Évolution du crâne: Pendant des millions d'année, l'Homme évolue et avec cette évolution vient l'évolution de son crâne et de son cerveau.
L'étude scientifique de l'évolution humaine est la paléoanthropologie. L'évolution humaine désigne les différentes étapes qui ont abouti à l'homme moderne, Homo sapiens, à partir des ancêtres communs qu'il a avec les autres primates. Elle ne se limite pas à l'étude du genre Homo mais inclut plus généralement tous les membres de la famille des hominine, y compris donc les australopithèques qui ne sont pas, nos ancêtres.

Australopithecus afarensis and Australopithecus africanus are among the most famous of the extinct hominids. A. africanus used to be regarded as ancestral to the genus Homo. However, fossils assigned to the genus Homo have been found that are older than A. africanus. Thus, the genus Homo either split off from the genus Australopithecus at an earlier date, or both developed from a yet possibly unknown common ancestor independently. The brains of most species of Australopithecus were roughly 35% of the size of that of a modern human brain.
